I haven't heard any rumblings about it from browser vendors, unfortunately. Even Apple hasn't extended it to desktop-Safari, as far as I can tell.

I was pointing out an inaccuracy in the article, not commenting about whether or not this tech is a good idea. I think if we're opposed to it, we should avoid misrepresenting it in arguments. On which note... it really does seem to be

It'd be ideal if browsers offered standard hooks into their password-filling mechanisms. Let the password managers volunteer "I know a password for this site!" and fill it through the browser's standard UI. Basically, I

Oh, that's interesting. I had been assuming it'd be a more universal release schedule. I wonder how the people getting their devices after the early orders have already received all the games are going to feel about it.

Granted, this is taking them at their word, but they're certainly claiming that they'll be shipping two of those games every week for the first 12 weeks after the system ships. That's a release date, even if a slightly amor

Yes, I very much doubt that this will be a vast consumer success like the iPod/Dropbox/etc. (Though since they've already sold through their initial run, it's probably going to be a success for Panic! at least.) But the

Just guessing, but presumably it'd involve more hardware to support the charging, for a small increase in price/size/complexity, and (probably more importantly) change the feel of the crank to be much more resistant, which wo

This reminds me a lot of the famous Slashdot iPod comment: "No wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame."[0] ...but, seriously, the selling point is the experience plus some fairly nice fit-and-finish. They're advertising it h

Perhaps-interestingly, I like this about its config and would view that feature as a bonus . It makes it easy to really tailor a given vault to a purpose, without having to consider layered configuration and how that might propagate.

Yeah, the submitted-link seems to be that URL... with the full text of the "goodbye" blog post appended to it. I'm kind of surprised that HN lets you store such a large URL. (Obviously URLs can be very long, technically. Bu

The Register article [1] says that it was Sneedacity, apparently a Simpsons reference. This is, I think it's fair to say, a worse name than the one which was chosen. [1] https://www.theregister.com/2021/07/07&

In this case it's relevant, because the Phorge page links to the parent domain for the "Phorge is developed and maintained by The Phorge Team" line. Makes it a bit harder to trust said maintenance.

I think the competing offering stems from the vendetta. Based on the timeline I've seen, IRCCloud took a side on the Libera split on twitter, so Lee took a few weeks to roll out the Freenode BNC and then promptly k-lined IRCCloud.

Yeah, that's fair. I felt it was worth calling out that it's not a perfect 1:1 map of behavior, since the Android-back does contain multitudes and it's hard to say what a given person expects it to do in their own usage. Hone

Not really! There's not an iOS equivalent to the Android "back" concept. On Android pressing "back" will take you to the last screen you were on; importantly this might be in the same app or a different one. It&#x
