I'm actually kind of surprised that the YouTube terms of service require a new agreement and aren't structured in a way that would allow them to make changes like this unilaterally.

This is a temporary step. There are two versions of their intermediate cert, the one in this article that is cross-signed and another that is signed by their own root (which isn't yet included everywhere). There's a diagram on thi

I'm guessing it's something like this: CloudFlare makes the Internet fast, which makes mobile Internet fast, which helps sell mobile phones, which use Qualcomm chips.

You're both right. There's a tax-free day to slow down the amount of tax brought in, but state law does require returning unexpected tax windfalls that exceed inflation and population growth. Wikipedia has a good overview: https:

The other side of that argument is that if your registrar is also your CA, they have the ability to give bogus SSL certs to an evil server and the ability to direct your domain to that evil server.

Distantly related, The Road Not Taken is also an excellent short story by Harry Turtledove that the HN crowd would probably appreciate: http://www.eyeofmidas.com/scifi/Turtledove_RoadNotTaken.pdf

I don't think you need to consider a pay cut. It's easy to look at HN and think that all of the good jobs are in new technologies and your experience is worthless. That's not the case. Take a week or two to build a handful of

When I worked remotely, we would often do conference calls with someone sharing their screen, which reproduces a lot of the benefits of being in a conference room with one person's laptop hooked up to the projector.

The part about using = for definition doesn't seem to reflect the way that works in mathematics. The mathematical meaning of x = 2kj isn't var x = 2 * k * j but var x = function(k, j) { return 2 * k * j; };
