I go offline for days at a time. First, open every webpage and document I think I'll need to finish The Big Project. Then disconnect and work. Stay offline* until the project is done. If projects are overlapping, hitting 300 tabs is eas

Awk has everything "real" languages have. The same math, flow control and data structures. It also has a subset of string mangling ops that give it the "illegible" appearance. But it is fine as a general purpose dynamic scripting languag

Those don't count. TI is giving away those boards at a loss. TI likes to give away parts. The $4.30 is entirely (overnight!) shipping.

If you want an even more portable Forth environment, check out Amforth ( http://amforth.sourceforge.net/ ) or Fignition ( http://sites.google.com/site/libby8dev/fignition ).

Email the Bundle guy. Historically, he will give you the bundle for free and later will try to set up a payment method you can use next time.

So what makes it for hackers? The Github backend? Including a plugin for code by default? http://redraftable.com is a blog engine for hackers, other than the author won't release sources while the project is still immature.

Other comment - 250GB/month is less than 800Kb/sec. Cheap DSL is faster. Hulu uses 1Mb/sec. If you are one of those people who like a TV playing in the background, you can go over your cap just from running free television 24x7.

But it is very very easy to go over 250GB in a DAY, let alone a month. 250GB ÷ 15MB/sec = 4 hours 36 minutes Doesn't it seem a little odd that you can blow through an entire month's service in less than a day?

I always used whatever real animation tool (Anim8or, Blender, python+svg+ffmpeg) I was most comfortable with and rendered the animation to a non-looping GIF. Embeddable almost anywhere.

I agree. (Though my favorite is FuncParserLib, very haskellish.) Using a real parser could probably cut half the code. Been meaning to make my own Markdown parser, everyone else's kind of sucks :-)

There is no faster chirping sound. I'm guessing you are using Jesvs's sox line? I was very surprised sox was able to work at all, half of the settings were wrong. Try awk [...] | sox -c 1 -b 8 -r 64k -e unsigned -t raw - -d instead. No

Please never use grep on json. If you are going to use python as a heavyweight json_reformat, at least have the decency to use all of python's excellent json lib.

Almost half* of the commands map json (stdin) to json (stdout). Extract, modify and insert all take and spit out json. Originally (when it only supported single commands) this is how you had to do everything. But that much piping is a re

Glad you like it. I'll be adding a path-like syntax next. This was just a little one-day hackup to learn getopts. You can do similar with -e a -e b -e c. Or just make your own wrapper with jshon $(echo ".a.b.c" | sed 's/./ -e/g')
