Yup, many states have 'click it or ticket' laws, yet school buses have no seat belts. The argument I heard growing up was that its 'actually more dangerous to wear one on a school bus'. I was never given a real justifica

Yeah, but the original idea was a social welfare plan. The target isn't those who will take initiative to find and buy a tiny parcel for their trailer (tiny parcels are a very hard thing to find), but the people stuck in a rut of trail

Of course, but most people out there got into it because of the money or because there's nothing else for them. It's not a job where a new entrant to the workforce will think "yeah I think I'll do that for a living"

Sure, but owning the entire property is a superior option because it means they are not paying anyone for the privilege of living there (minus taxes to the government).

In a system like that, you would have fewer doctors yes, but the ones you have would be the ones who actually want to BE doctors. In the US you have a huge group who couldn't afford med school but really want to save lives as a doctor.

Sure, mortgage on a house isn't good for these people, because they don't have the money for a down payment, or the money to pay for a regular house. Give them the opportunity to purchase a small house on a small plot of land, tho

Ok, lets say I instead decide I don't like how companies sell their cars, so I 'protest' by stealing a copy of the schematics for the new 2016 model of some car. I construct and sell them for the price of materials, meaning I

Well, no cables, for one. It's not a huge complaint, but fewer cables on the desk is a beautiful thing. Also, easier transport.

I'd imagine it's because nobody will want to use the 32-bit version for anything commercial, so there's no worry about it. If some company wants to use the 64-bit version commercially, then the team is going to want to have s

For completeness of the argument, this particular problem is solved in the Java world with string formats. With the slf4j interface, that would be: log.debug("expensive %s %s", debug, message) The message is not actually formatted

He wasn't talking about closing void elements, he meant self-closing void tags, like <img/>, <br/>, and <hr/>. These were introduced by XHTML to fit with the idea that every tag needs to be closed. HTML

That comment is mostly by gamers, not modders. Also, the difference is that one assigns a worth, while the other is someone saying 'hey I appreciate what you do'.

The core of the issue came down to the effects on the modder community. 1. Modders are hobbyists, not professionals. Many modders came right out and said they would no longer make mods under this system, because the pressure to charge means

The tool many people use isn't always the best one. Most of the world runs on coal for power, but that doesn't mean it's a good choice, it's just the easy one. PHP is not a good choice for anyone, it's the easy one.

I always kind of wished that MooTools had won out in their battle to overtake Prototype's crown. It had a much more sensible namespace, and focused much more on solidly structured code over "how short can I make this".
