I have a pretty relaxed attitude towards sick kids: if they're in real distress they'll yell and wake me up. My wife thinks I'm a monster.

Yes for the increased overhead, but I find that the fact that they're tuples underneath results in odd semantics (I think the comment above mine[1] does a decent job pointing out why I am leary of using them. Tradeoffs, I guess. [1] h

Two counters: 1) These are bit players in the world economy, with nothing like the clout that the US derives from manipulating the world economy via seigniorage, reserve currency status, monetary policy and the ability to lock other countri

Coinbase is welcome to fight the breadth of the request, but they will lose -- if not this time, then the next. The government has every interest in regulating BTC out of existence: the ability to transact value with no government intermedi

I'm sure the potential for a first sale doctrine smackdown in the courts had nothing to do with this.

We have multiple standby servers to prevent the SPOF issue. One problem we HAVE seen is a reduction in maximum bandwidth. Since we're CPU limited, however, it hasn't really been an issue.

My family did a long road trip around Rajasthan back in the early 2000s -- there is gorgeous architecture and art strewn all over the landscape, completely unlike what you will find elsewhere in the world. As a brown guy raised in the West

Do the newer systems assume network connectivity to a backend processing facility? Personally, I view each additional layer (network, someone else's data center, machine learning) to be something that can fail and put people in danger.

Same for us -- speed was not a consideration at all. We figured that if we could keep going and finish, we'd be one of the top 3 teams. As it turned out, our mechanical engineering was great. What got us was software: we failed to free
