   That was also my first thought. I see only cost and no benefit. Except maybe when you have a cargo cult mindset and think that returning these measures will return Britain‘s glory. Can anyone name one benefit?

   There is a nice popular science movie called Everything And Nothing, „starring“ Jim Al-Khalili that tells a similar story (without involving string theory). My kids loved it.

   I got mich out of it, but only on the meta level also. Afair she never goes into technical detail of e.g. Neyman Pearson, but covers things like how to overcome the Quine-Duhem-problem with statistics, or how to stengthen Popper’s theory.

   I tend to think that the problem that underlies all of this is the old question for a sound inductive method, or a deductive method that can replace it. Many Bayesian theoreticists are already named in the comments, for a frequentist view

    I went a similar route. What did it for me was conceptual analysis. You know how to program already. Maybe you did object oriented analysis? Once I understood, that creating a sample space can be understood as creating a class of the sample

    I have seen such a thing once, I think even last year. Someone had sent a cv for a high paying specialist role. Among the things that he listed as what he did on the previous job was a description, that did not seem to make any sense concep

    Let me point out that it will stay there pretty much forever as long as someone is paying for storage and computing. I would think this tied to the possibility of earning real money.
