Here is my code. https://github.com/kbob/deep-synth Specifically, look at experiments/deep-svf.c. If SVF is not defined, it uses a C translation of the Supercollider BLowpass2 algorithm. If SVF is defined, it us

Is LIDAR actually better than video? If I understand LIDAR correctly, it gives a 1D array of depth data and is fairly limited in either resolution or speed. Video provides much more data at higher speed, and it seems like it'd be eas

In counterpoint, I've had a Model 3 for two weeks now, and can't operate the touchscreen at all while the car is moving. I can't hit the small buttons at arm's length while the car is bouncing around. The first (and la

In what way was early DEC not open? In the 1960s and 1970s, every DEC computer came with a full schematic. You could troubleshoot any signal on any board. Most of it was COTS components, and replacements were easily obtained. Also, by 19

This quiz really drives home how thoroughly Helvetica has permeated corporate typography. It's like Brooks Brothers or ThinkPads -- you couldn't have a serious business without it.

What other languages are "MIT-created"? I think of Lisp, Scheme, CLU, Logo, MDL, and Planner offhand, but those are all ancient. I'm sure there have been some in the last 30 years.

Great project. Have you looked at the Convex C-Series architecture? They copied the Cray vector idea. Starting with the C2 (I think) there was also a Vector Mask (VM) register which described which vector elements had valid data. Since t

You can get WS2811, which is the driver chip without an LED. You can hook that up to any RGB LED in any form factor. It's more expensive and requires more PCB space, but you get flexibility in LED placement.

LEDs draw lots of power. I just put ~~50W~~25W of SK6812s in my 3D printer enclosure. (It's overkill, but not drastically so.) So you're going to need big batteries for any LED project. Edit: matho. 25W, not 50W.

Aaargh! "cat | sort" is an antipattern. Sort accepts a list of files as arguments. "sort [flags] file1 file2 ..." is more concise, more efficient, and is less likely to run out of space.
