I'd say that's not true any more. We do have a war to fight, the war against destruction of our planet by humanity. (Hoping our politicians would fix it has turned out to be ineffective so far.) If we could have a war against drug

Here we don't usually grade on a curve (just move the mapping of points to grades a little), and a general observation seems to be that there usually is an overlap of two normal distributions - the ones that understood the material and

Very often the reason we don't die from these things is because we take precaution. Imagine we had done nothing against ebola or aids, we'd have millions of deaths by now. (In the case of aids, not all places were so lucky [0].) S

So I was a bit incredulous at the claim of miles-long trains. If anyone else is - turns out, there's a wikipedia page which has more information on very long trains (it's true): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L

I think it goes further, in the spirit of those 'You wouldn't steal a car' clips. Pirates don't really steal data, they just copy. But this is actually a kind of theft. Most pirates would consider that immoral, I'd

It would really be good if the remaining cars were substancially smaller though. Driving an SUV into the city is not ok and does not provide significant increases in utility for the one doing it compared to a small car.

I really really wish that we are overdoing it. The data just looks that bad, and we are one the worst path. We emitted 5/6th of what's ok to stay below 1.5°C, and 2°C is not that much more, and we're not stopping. (500 Gt vs

It would be nice to have a house where you can regulate the draftyness better. In some seasons, draftyness is a feature, not a but, in others, not so much.
