The system of employment is the problem. Drug dealers and police are employees and they cannot win. While the system has power employees have none. Mike, Bubbles, Bunny, Omar, Hauk, etc are not employees or get out and they win or at least

yes some markets take longer times and sometime tech changes so we never reach the end. but the end result is always the same as long as firms are involved. It's a feature of capitalism.

look at market shares over time. initially you have innovation. then many entrants fight for it. then one wins. google is search monopoly amazon has ecommerce and AWS. netflix was innovator, middle period. apple is taking 80% of profits in

competition (winner takes all) naturally results in oligopoly or monopoly in any market. The market is unstable. You can fight this by unending regulation/antitrust. Or by finding better ways to distribute scarce resources.

For envelope (floor, walls roof) key metric is $ per sq ft. Its possible to do <$10 per sq ft in most of USA. So for a 100 sq ft room it works out to 6 sq ft envelope per sq ft of floor so $60 per sq ft of floor area. for a 500 sq ft stu

slowing down 5% adds 10 minutes flying time to a 3 hour flight. Drag varies with square of speed except when you get close to Mach 1 where it gets much worse. Its also possible to fly 20% (36kft vs 30k) higher where drag for the same speed

MIT already has aircraft designs that use 50% less fuel per seat-mile. If more of the plane is empty there is higher incentive to reduce seat mile cost especially if average seat mile revenue is lower.

Actually the opposite might happen. Airlines would keep empty seats to sell at a premium at last moment. A business that rejects customers willing to pay top dollar is suboptimal. The startegy today is to make artificial scarcity. If the cu

Sure you do. Airplanes should be at least 10% empty on average. High load factors are bad for the travellers. If you want to save fuel fly 5% slower and save 10% fuel.

and that would make the service better, and eventually cheaper, instead of flying 60 year old designs.

land use must be fair. You should tax excessive ownership of land. Most old do not live in assisted care. ANd healthcare is independent of land ownership. CA is extremely screwed up on how it taxes. I used to live in Cupertino where some pe

The traditional (neoclassical economics) view is that taxes pay for services, but that's not how it really works. The federal government buys these services with money it creates, and then only later does it tax it back. For state an

property taxes are terrible for old people. you should be able to buy a reasonable amount of land tax free. USA has about 2.5 billion acres. 1/4 acre per person in an average area tax free is reasonable.

Whenever a company pivots to another tech without publicly proving the original tech, i get the heeby jeebies. If laminar flow tech worked as they claimed, you wouldn't need hydrogen to be a market success.

Right. When did the US last win a war? Even with unlimited weapons, nobody wins any more. Sure you can destroy governments like Saddam and Gaddafi, but you don't win the hearts and minds, and eventually you lose.
