1. I was referring to walking as recreation, not walking in general (not sure how people missed this) 2. Body parts don't have a "purpose" unless you believe in a creator-god.

I was referring to a book I read by a Brit who lived in Africa for 30 years. He wrote about an interaction where he moved to an African village and "went for a walk" through the village. The locals thought he was strange to walk f

Did you even read the article? CBT and the cognitive model are not the same thing. CBT (the therapy) works, but that doesn't mean the underlying theory is correct. "Not only is there contrary evidence showing problems with reasoni

Yeah. Virtually none of the suggestions OP is making are "natural" in any meaningful way. Even going for walks usually implies walking in a park, which is an invention of the past 100 years or so. It's also very Euro-centric.

I wish this were true, but is it? One of the most stable societies in human history was ancient Egypt which was ruled by a god-king and remained relatively unchanged for thousands of years. Democracies, on the other hand, tend to be much mo

I find it hard to believe that refusing to rent out 3 units would raise the fourth one from $1000 to $4000. I also don't think businesses normally refuse to sell large portions of already produced merchandise to maintain artificial sca

I was hoping for peer-reviewed research, not articles written by journalists. I'm not denying the vacancies are real (not sure how you thought that?). I'm questioning whether the cause of the vacancies are landlords intentionally

Yes. Something can be difficult to define exactly, yet also have clearly recognizable features. You haven't thought about it very hard if this "amuses you".

The cake analogy works for the brain, not the mind. The brain is the abstract unification of all your neurons and electrical impulses into a single entity. The mind is...well...it's difficult to define exactly what the mind is, but it&

People keep telling this story but not providing any evidence. What evidence is there that landlords not wanting to rent their units is the cause of high rents in nyc? On its surface it makes no sense. Why wouldn't they want to collect

The Taoist influence on Zen is overstated in my opinion. Most of the non-dual stuff Westerns would consider "Taoism" is right there in the Diamond Sutra (straight out of India). Westerners also typically underestimate how much Tao

Grand Central is not "less than minutes away from Penn Station". It's at least a 15 minute commute. Potentially more depending on which part of the station your walking to/from and if there's delays.
