The biography of the author is interesting and relevant, but hardly all that matters about this or any other writing.

Very bad racially-motivated atrocities are perpetrated today. Characterizing that as "slavery never ended in the US" is trivializing a much, much worse past regime.

I saw these in the basement of a data center about 11-12 years ago. Most steampunk thing I've seen in real life.

An oddly gauzy piece. As an ex-Amazonian, I recommend the (complimentary, insider-written) book "Working Backwards" for those interested in a substantive look at how Amazon ticks.

I can't reconcile Amazon's growing flood of ads with their famous first Leadership Principle: "Leaders start with the customer and work backwards. They work vigorously to earn and keep customer trust."

I agree with many of the author's points about fear-mongering. However, I also think the author should expand their definition of what constitutes "security" in the context of agentic AI.

Many good writers used the em dash long before LLMs. (Where, after all, did LLMs get the idea from?)

As a child I lived for two years at ~11k ft (La Paz, Bolivia). I can vouch for the impact of both Acute Mountain Sickness and the sun at that elevation.
