Caltrain runs on diesel, is incredibly slow (much slower than driving), frequently breaks down, and doesn't travel across the bay. It was probably OK for the 70s.

Lets be fair. Morsi won 51% of the vote and thereafter granted himself unlimited power (quite literally). He essentially declared himself god-emperor. What would you have NATO do, restore the dictator to power? Hamas is in much the same

I like this idea quite a bit. Both selling and buying furniture on CL is a nightmare. I moved to the city 3 years ago from across the country and was forced to sell furnishings for a 3 bedroom house. I don't expect you will have muc

Most people don't have trucks and you don't have to deal with CL- reposting every 12 hours, dealing with people who want to pay half the agreed upon price at the door, telling people where you live, etc etc.

I apologize for the bugs and confusing UI. We recently made a change where files that are ignored by git are no longer shared in Floobits. Have you tried the summon command? It will cause everyone else in the workspace to jump to your fil

Emacs and Vi are not IDEs. They operate on strings, not ASTs. Intellij Idea is an IDE for Java- it allows you to eg change the name of a method and have all call sites be updated. A text editor forces you to do this yourself with a string

Emacs is not an IDE- its a text editor. It would be nuts to use Emacs to edit Java compared to Intellij or even Eclipse. Having said that, it is no more productive than any other text editor at editing text (as compared to Vim or Sublime T

There are many statements we would agree to be neither true nor false; here are a couple: 1. The sun will rise tomorrow. 2. This statement is false. I'd agree with you the validity of a statement is not dependent on the palatability of

Its not a matter of expense in many cases. Municipalities have agreements that span years with cable providers enforcing their local monopolies in exchange for kickbacks and universal access. It is impossible to compete in these markets w

Sheet music is important because it allows someone to play music they have never heard. It is also important in providing the context for music even after you have heard it. That is to say, many musicians play other than what is written (Ju

Vi was designed to work over a 300 baud modem. The throughput needed for a text editor is minimal (and still is). A C API would avoid the extra overhead, but no one is interested in writing cross platform unicode/binary safe plugins

There are not so terrible workarounds for all the things you mentioned. While Py3K does them better, they are still not reasons to update. As the article points out, there isn't a compelling reason other than slightly cleaner code.
