Nice to see Asterisk on the home page of HN. It’s been a while… Even if the focus is now on hosted telephony, my experience is that everywhere you can hear the default nusic-on-hold

Like fitness where they want you to activate Fitness+. This means the one they are shipping is trash? Plus, thank you, I know where the App store is in case I need it

I understand this is meant as a demo of what Rama can do. As a potential user I am not keen on running a distributed system that is a black box and contains all of its data – how do I access it? How do I back it up?

You can have the supervisor kill the linked process by sending a kill signal when it is being killed - see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/13909943/killing-a-proce...

I think the author has this wrong. Handling a ton of edge cases so I don’t have to do it myself is a good reason to use a library. Importing an endless tree of deps I have no control of - that is the issue.

Technically it does not shrink Africa’s size but it inflates the apparent size of northern and southern areas. It seems clear that the problems of African developement can be fixed by topping the evil cadre of cartographers that keep it dow

I got a feeling the author has but a vague idea of what Java and C++ are.

While I agree that the article seems interesting, I hate it when articles on HN are behind a paywall.

A one-million row table that sit on the server and you have 10 actually displayed on the client is not the same as one million checkboxes. Come on!

Like, there is no such thing called ‘Alfredo sauce’ in Italy - and it would not go on pasta anyway.

I know nothing of Zig, but I worked long enough in lisp to know that the best macros are the ones you don’t write. They are wonderful but they have just as many drawbacks, and don’t compose nicely.

I cannot help but wonder why starting a new project in C in 2025. It’s like driving a car with no seat belts. You sure you want to do that?

I wonder why you should have a vectorscope in real time if the point is showing histograms to humans. As the image does not change much frame to frame, I presume that if you compute it and display it every fifth frame or so, nobody would ev

I do not agree with the contents of this article. Behaviors are possible because of the underlying architecture of the system. Behaviors are not interfaces – they are more like abstract object in a language like Java so they implement basi
