AFAIK Amazon as a company is not really open sourcing a lot of their software. I was surprised that they would open source such a key component of their Lambda offering. As someone here already mentioned, it certainly helped Fly.io steeling

Very interesting project! The source is inspiring, it seems the author has made an explicit choice to minimize dependencies. Even transpilation from ES modules into commonjs is done by the author himself: https://github.com/

Isn’t the big difference between running some random rust from the internet, and a WASM file, the sandbox in which WASM runs. This has some security advantages. And as you also point out, it’s like an abstraction over various languages whic

Soundex is cool, we’re using it for a game app I'm working on. It’s a trivia game app based on a TV show. In the TV show candidates try to guess the right answer just by saying. How it’s written is not relevant (in order to score point

I agree 100%, but you also need to know which tech is going to get mainstream later on. Nobody wants to use tech which was once exciting, and now deprecated. I took several bets with frameworks, libraries, databases and even languages durin

Finish what? Where do you draw the line of “work for today”? I don’t think motivated devs want to go home at 2pm. Speaking as a dev, the best way to motivate me is to give me some head cracking challenge, trust (no reporting) and autonomy (

The gap between classic IDE’s like XCode, Visual Studio or JetBrain’s IDEs and text editors are getting smaller each day. I’m not keen on the classic IDE experience either. I like VSCode because it’s a simple/light weight text editor

A few months ago I tried Rust but found that the tooling like auto completion and highlighting where still a bit alpha. IIRC I used VSCode with the most popular Rust plugin at the time. Did I miss something or is there some progress being m

Very interesting project. If you want a deep dive into TypeScript generics, this project's code is truly a must-read! This project really shows how powerful TypeScript has become over the years. Shameless plug: we're also working

I wish I could choose my default assistant like I can choose my default browser in iOS. AFAIK this is already possible in Android. Too bad we'll probably need some angry European politician to convince Apple.
