Andrew Mason may only own 7.5% of Groupon, but the absolute value of Andrew's stake right now is almost certainly much higher than if he had decided to "preserve equity" and skipped one of the many rounds Groupon has raised. (Long-term, may

I don't think those polls captured intensity, either. After several months to get used to no points, I feel very strongly they should be brought back. These threads are much less useful without them, especially when I don't have time to r

I didn't recognize it as an allegory until halfway through, because jailbroken iPhones already have a very comprehensive free-cracked-app store, and I can only assume Android users have way more options. Is this one of the reasons games are

When you say "these sorts of issues", it sounds like you're talking about injustice everywhere. You want to fix injustices-- food for the hungry-- instead of "adding happiness"-- better food photos for people with smartphones. In which case

Used iBurn last year, super useful. Sad. But relatedly, this site http://burnermap.com is pretty awesome; it lets you figure out what camp your friends are staying at on the playa. (They should have a lot of the camp geodata that iBurn ne

Agreed, this is my favorite too. And, after you encrypt your primary drive, you can either leave your Time Machine drive alone (which seems silly, but it's an option now, whereas before using FileVault created an encrypted disk image, which

This was by far the biggest missing feature from Rapportive, which is already one of very few free services I'd pay for. In addition to just seeing the sender's photos, LinkedIn title, recent tweets (hover to see whole thread), etc. in the

Even Microsoft started small. What PG likes to say is: YC is looking for startups building the next BASIC interpreter for the Altair (which was almost as obscure then as it is now.) Something minimally useful in or adjacent to a market that

No, ProFounder requires users to send non-transferrable email invitations to their friends and family (or "community"), i.e. pre-existing relationships. Afaik they don't provide a way to meet investors on the site, like you're suggesting. F

I'm glad you did it! I wouldn't have seen this if you hadn't, I'm going to use it, plus you proved something I'd always believed was true-- time of posting can make the difference between a 15-point story and a 140 (and counting) point stor
