That‘s what it reduces to, yes, and german courts seem set on actually creating precedents [0] for that dreadful situation. [0] https://www.taylorwessing.com/en/insights-and-events/insight...

I live in a country where copyright is automatic and inalienable, so I am aware. But what does seize mean in this context? What is the difference, as far as the MIT License is concerned, between "fork the repos and change the fork"

I like what npm is doing in these cases and I think so do most developers. Isn't this what people are always praising about linux package managers? That they modify the software in all kinds of ways and take things into their own hands

Well I didn't explicitly license my tweets to allow that, so maybe not. But they probably are, anyway. What's really the difference between "fork the repos and change the fork" and "seize and modify somebody else&#x

Oh that's unfortunate. I just checked and FreshSat is listed as a "Premium" layer in the app. It's a good piece of software but not worth it just for what is essentially free data. You can pan around the map a little bit

I‘m fascinated by "current" satellite images. The most enjoyable option I‘ve found is the FreshSat layers available in the Gaia GPS app. Being able to hold it in your hand while out and about and "look over walls", so to

I find working with "modules and wires" interfaces that embrace digital more productive/fun but I can see the appeal. Two patching UIs that I really like are Audulus and Reaktor. I like the panel/patching split in reakto

Tailwind is more of a method of writing CSS than a framework. Many people are writing modern CSS layouts IN tailwind, which you can consider a dialect of inline styles.

The Azure service fully operated by Deutsche Telekom seems pretty appealing right about now, but as far as I know they cancelled that. Maybe cloud providers will move to a kind of franchise model, effectively allowing smaller European compa

Do you mean it was the processing by Akamai, not Cookiebot that was problematic? If so, that's my point. As far as I understand what Akamai does, they where probably just the conduit for establishing a TCP/IP connection to the Coo

I am both exaggerating and serious. Say you are a US company and you run a gopher site. You are not allowed to have the IP addresses of European visitors transmitted to you, that is what this decision is saying right? You are not allowed to

Yeah, that's exactly my problem, practically. It is hard not to send IP addresses to US affiliated companies. You are probably right that it is not as simple as what the definition of PII is. In my privacy policies, I try to follow wha

If you honestly believe this cause is worth a scorched earth approach, fair enough. It‘s literally a scorched earth, because it will be pretty tricky to provide even gopher services to a global internet until we develop a TOR like alternati

Good point. Apple can be compelled to provide the link. IP addresses are PII because ISPs can be compelled to provide the link, so it‘s the same thing.

Yeah, I think that‘s a good idea. The problem is stretching the definition of PII beyond it‘s breaking point to include shortened (!) IP addresses, anonymous identifiers and fingerprintable http headers. Now this forbids the transmission, n

I too think these consent solutions are problematic, but the law as it is use here is a catastrophic overreach, if applied broadly. If you take the article at face value, it is illegal to create any kind of TCP/IP connection with a ser

What‘s unusual is that I had no idea there was ever a border html attribute, as someone who entered web dev around the time html5 was a buzzword. styled-system is a css-in-js tool that puts the css properties right on the element, just like

The question mostly arises when you want to build a greenfield cross platform app. I chose SwiftUI, but feel like I might regret not going Catalyst. I think Apple doesn't usually blunder around like Microsoft with these things, but act
