ChatGPT is more comparable to what Quora/Poe calls Claude+ - slower/more expensive/smarter. Claude-instant is closer to GPT-turbo in that tradeoff space.

Not really. The point of the philosophical zombie idea is that they'd be indistinguishable in behavior from conscious people. Part of the point of the stochastic parrots is that supposedly they can't accomplish the same things as

Do you mean that the chapter on priming has been debunked (as I believe Kahneman acknowledges) or is there more wrong than that?

This is cool. I'm surprised that compiling a partial Zig backend to WASM and then compressing that ends up meaningfully smaller than compiling to C and compressing the C, when you include also the C partial WASM implementation and zstd

Right. I've seen this parodically phrased as "I just make the rockets go up, it's the Luftwaffe's business where they come down" and I don't get that attitude at a gut level but it's clearly common (even

Ah good point re the inequality, over thought it. If there weren't good reasons for making the assumptions that modern compilers do, I'd have expected users of C and C++ to have converged on a more conservative compiler, at least

The inequality argument would seem to apply only to for loops with constant iteration counts, yeah? The compiler can't know that "i < n; i++" won't overflow if "i" could start out higher than "n".

Should loop-invariant code motion be an allowed optimization only when the compiler can statically prove that a for loop's increment won't overflow?

I agree that a single data point like this doesn't provide useful intuition about whether the police are overfunded; I believe they generally are but that's based on what they do (and don't do) with the funding they have. If

I don't know the specific numbers for LA, but the city discretionary budget doesn't seem like an unreasonable choice for the denominator here. That's the budget from which the mayor or city council can either allocate more to

If "traditional nuclear family" is a euphemism for anti gay marriage, that's closer to the opposite of 85% in the US these days. Even so I've never heard that given as a sufficient reason to identify someone as alt right

I'm curious what you think it's possible to buy that replaces the need to invest on top of Bazel. Have you worked on a comparably sized codebase that used a simpler solution?

What you call entitlement sounds to me something more like self-respect. If I was asked to show the last 30 days of my code to a random engineer from another company to prove I deserved my job, I'm pretty sure I'd quit on the spot

I don't see muggings, burglaries, or car break-ins in that quote. Not that you were asserting otherwise but it doesn't seem like support for disinterest in theft being a prosecutor choice rather than a cop choice.

Can you provide a link to these statements? How old are they? FWIW I don't live in SF but I've had a couple of car break-ins and I don't even remember if I reported them; it was a formality for insurance purposes if so and I

You are not doing yourself a service if you decide that "every available mechanism at your disposal" ought to include just completely misstating what the opinion actually is, as with the Pascal's Wager analogy.
