I think you are redefining scalability here. Tight development/ deployment cycle is just that, it is not scalability. Availability of the service shouldn't be dependent on how fast you can deliver new versions of the application.

No, you should get the business going first. You can improve infrastructure later. E.g. start with a VPS. With most offerings, they are pretty reliable. If you need, make a failover cluster of two to make updates with very short downtime ea

Do the USB 4 ports actually work as Thunderbolt 3 too? I know the post is about the Z-series. Perhaps somebody already knows... It seems the AMD-based T14 Gen3 Thinkpads actually don't support Thunderbolt. Some people speculated, it is

I like how this guide also takes Windows into account, it has some unique challenges. I have written some notes especially on SSHFS (also for Windows!) and tunnels with SSH (e.g. SOCKS proxy) as an OrgPage: https://www.orgpad.com

It's great you don't have to configure any public interface at all (and can basically have an internal only VPS). Reducing cost by removing or not configuring public IPv4 is also a good development - there are so many things that

Yep, we unfortunately have the same problem at OrgPad. Canvas doesn't help that much, probably going to skip extensive canvas rewrites and will use WebGL instead.

Thank you for the tips! At OrgPad, we currently use the system-wide JRE since we control the whole VM, this is not a huge issue. We build & deploy by just copying the (uber)jar and restarting the systemd service. Quite simple but I like

Do you have any good resources on how to use jlink/ jpackage with Clojure? Do you somehow embed it in a Uberjar or is the Uberjar part of the package besides the JRE?

I think, striving for software to not have a maintenance need if no new features need to be implemented is sound. I am very well aware, that the complexity of any but a trivial piece of software on a trivial piece of hardware is beyond huma

Yes, it is difficult and it is stunning. On the other hand, in theory, you can go to an engineering school and learn the calculations and design involved in making sure it works. Also, it has been done like 80 years ago with the V2 with at

Perhaps, you should ask a question, why didn't the author reverse the question? Something like "How on earth was my implementation in a JITed language 50x slower on a warmed-up benchmark?" Where is the output of the profiler
