Thanks! I hadn't seen that site, appreciate the pointer. One challenge I'm seeing is making it easy enough to contribute yet organized enough to be meaningful. At the bare, bare mimimum I'm finding it useful to collect my own thoughts so I'

Thanks for sharing this -- it's a MVP designed to - get nascent ideas public (personal use case) - find the best analogies/examples used to explain topics - apply these techniques to other topics It needs some iteration to narrow

Excellent description, thank you for sharing it. I have a major pet peeve against the warped culture of "accountability" which really just means "find someone to blame when things go wrong". In that environment (when you aren't lavished rew

Hi all, thanks for attention! My passion is finding the "aha!" moments when learning. In git: - Git has a staging area before you commit - Branching is "save as..." on a directory - Imagine virtual directories inside your physical o

If you are doing anything with equations, LaTeX is definitely the way to go. Unfortunately, it's a steep learning curve for regular ebooks. The downside is it's not super HTML-friendly (there are converters, but you can't display equations

Exactly. One of my pet peeves is the misconception that a life expectancy of 35 means a normal adult somehow drops dead at that age. (And leads to arguments like "Oh, don't eat a paleo diet, cavemen only lived to 35"). Socrates lived to 71

Great point! That's something I didn't make clear enough in the diagram, and a 2nd misconception I had until a month ago too :). Yes, exactly as you say, the total energy is the same but the orientation and amplitude of the field differs. I

I love this story because as Feynman puts it, there's a difference between knowing the name of something and really knowing it. Since we're on the topic of light -- despite going to a great school and taking several physics courses, I suffe

It's not awful (Zune is holding its own against non-Apple players), but with a quick back of the envelope calculation I estimate iPods outselling zunes at least 20:1 ( http://tinyurl.com/47x4rv3 ). Nobody wants to be in 9th place :).
