I think that replacing your software after it stops getting security and feature updates and loses compatibility with apps extends the longevity of your phone's life and creates less e-waste. I used my old OnePlus 6 for longer than I w

Don't know if this par for iFixit, but this sort of reads like an ad. To be fair, it sounds like the phone is not too bad in repairability. We should also have scores for software repairability and replacement.

Wow, this stirred up a memory because at some point I had like the most messages sent on Hack Club Slack ever (or at least per month). That was a long time ago.

I'm hoping maybe the Qualcomm laptops make some progress on battery life. I had an LG gram that had honestly surprisingly good battery life on Linux, and maybe the ThinkPads are good too.

Ah, I see. I was curious since I guess you can refer to it as central Asia since it's west of east Asia, haha.

Is India considered central Asia? I've always seen it referred to as south Asia, and former Soviet countries like Kazakhstan have been referred to as central Asia. I think India is east of these "central Asian" countries. Per

Unfortunately, I have heard logic like this throughout my life, leading me to decide that because I struggled with (some subset of) math, I am not an intelligent person, which led to forcing myself to do pure math in college to prove my int

Things like citation brokers (paid to cite papers), abuse of power, paper mills, and blackmail (pg. 10) is appalling to me. I have to question how we ended up here. Academia seems very focused on results and output, and this is used as a me

So, there is a stipend consideration in much of Europe, where if the PhD stipend is the same or lower compared to US schools, it would be difficult to save a reasonable amount of money should I choose to return to the US post-doctorate. Swi

As someone graduating from undergrad soon, and a intense and passionate person in CS, all of these reasons are seriously making me reconsider the idea of doing a PhD. I've done the 36-hour straight work grinds, and working from 10 pm t

My grade school education in the US was similar to this (although you needed to qualify for "accelerated" math). There were maybe 90 people every year in this. Those who did well did not make it much past CML or AMC, maybe out of
