I'm fine with ads. But I see much more promise for ads before getting in car, then after. While waiting for Uber/Lyft I check my phone non-stop. The second I'm in the car the last app I'm opening is Uber/Lyft.

To be fair, the submitter is looking for anecdotes from people who have regretted it--so makes sense less people who don't regret it would respond here.

Seems like you could just have it not work until a card has been on system for certain amount of time. That way people couldn't just upload card they stole? Would also make easy to detect those who uploaded stolen cards

Agreed, government run funds tend to not work out so well. And as direct government investment goes--this isn't that huge.

Think this is pretty absurd move by the hotels as well. fwiw though, I believe a bunch of the higher end hotels can't implement free wifi, because they set up Wifi a while back and got locked in to contracts with the companies that set
