I suspect that their motivation to push users to upgrade has far more to do with their planned obsolescence than anything to do with keeping users secure.

The title makes me think that the code execution is the point of the story and he doesn't seem to understand how that happens in fnmatch().

Far more useful than a list of things to copy-paste into a terminal that might be useful in very specific situations would be reading a good explanation of how to use the shell. What the subshells, piping, and some of the basic commands use
