Can I ask which coast you're on that this would be an issue? Depending on your answer I may have been backhandedly offending managers for the past 15 years.

This is unfortunately a losing battle. It kills me that people overload the code blocking for quotes because it's simply unreadable on mobile/tablet.

These things are rarely gone over in the initial ramp up in my experience :) It usually takes some time to see what the actual core values of an organization are.

This is a nice little resource. One positive about cookies that may be missing (but is admittedly a bit of an edge case) is that they're your only option for storing auth/bearer tokens across subdomains if that's a use case y

Ha. Well, it's more that there are things I can justify charging for and things I cannot. Standing up a sub par solution for a larger investment of time doesn't make a ton of fiscal sense to myself or my clients.

As I said, it really just comes down to business goals. Setting up a shared DO box with iptables isnt worth my time when it's still just a single DO box at the end of the day. S3 + Cloudfront + ad hoc Lambdas is a far far easier cost b

For what you get out of the box with this setup (or Google Cloud Storage + Cloud Load Balancing/CDN) it actually can be "dirt cheap", depending on your business goals/traffic. Just like anything, it depends on what you

I actually completely agree. I usually work with people who have already had some exposure to basic programming concepts and I think it's wonderful for them. But for someone looking to get started there are presumably better resource

I have, and they're also a great resource. I tool up a lot of junior devs, and I usually start them off on Eloquent if only because the format really lends itself to structured lessons. I like YDKJS post-Eloquent, for when they really

Eloquent JavaScript is easily the text I most reference when asked for recommendations on where to go to learn/bone up on JS. It's a real achievement, in one guy's opinion.

This is tangential, and I'm not a designer so this is just one dev's opinion, but I found Dropbox's latest rebrand (dropbox.design) to be a bizarre departure for them. It was so off the wall I just assumed it was some sort of

I too found this dialog to have bizarre choices for function and iconography. My main gripe with it is that there are now two "Save" actions in Firefox that have completely different functionality (Save a page vs Save a screensh

Well, for starters, they're not our customers, they're our client's customers. So I suppose the only thing you're missing is that certain businesses have specific business requirements for address verification?

Gotcha, that makes sense. We've attempted to abstract the endpoint and pub/sub logic from Cloud Functions into common libs, but I suspect moving to Lambda with our full stack would still be a real bear.

Excuse my ignorance here, and trust that I'm actually asking because I'm genuinely curious, but what do you mean by a "common runtime"? We use Cloud Function for a large part of our infrastructure, and it's all just

A little late to the party on this one, but does anyone have experience using Godot to build a multiplayer game? I'm thinking more along the lines of 4 player coop, not MMO. I've been playing with a few different libs, mainly try
