As a sibling comment mentioned, if you ever long-formed this I'd love to read it (and I'm not even a huge baseball fan!).

Sure - we use Contentful as our cloud based CMS offering. There are a few other players here - but the only ones I can speak to would be Prismic and Siteleaf, both of which are really solid. Once you've got your content CMS-side, you c

I actually disagree that Middleman isn't the right tool here - you're just relegating the content ownership to the wrong place. We run a number of multi user blogs in Middleman, but permissions and post ownership lives one level u

The solution here is to use a cloud based CMS (we use Contentful ourselves) and then just import the content during the build process of the static site. The client gets the CMS, you control the site. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, absolutely. To be clear, we haven't ditched the concept of a CMS altogether, we've simply shifted the paradigm to get the client's focus back on managing content instead of managing a site . Our current setup is usi

Absolutely - and by the way, I was in no way knocking you or your code! The level of polish or viability of a custom plugin for us would just be secondary to the fact that it was custom to begin with - that's all I was trying to get ac

This is my everyday at the moment. WordPress's biggest success, in my opinion, is that it is synonymous with "website" for many incoming clients. I get "We need a WordPress site" far more often than "We need a

I think you're missing two things: (1) there are clients who demand administrative access, and since they pay the bills, they get it (2) maintainability. As much as I detest WordPress, and as garbage as many of the public plugins are,

The problem with anecdotes is that they're easily refuted. For example, I know of someone who uses a Surface as their full time development machine and I've never seen it crash on him...ever. Just be careful dismissing products du
