I don't know about your team, but in our team I try to move as much as possible to kubernetes so I have a common way of deployment across all members. Of course if you are just thrown into the cold water without help from the Kubernete

>It seems rather that you don't know what kubernetes is. The company, for which I helped migrating to k8s, pays me 6 figures to keep maintaining it, thinks otherwise (also look at my username ;) ). All of our developers love it beca

Do you know kubernetes or are you just jumping on the hate train? Can't you argue with that logic against everything remotely complex? If you have people who know how to use it, then why not use it? Would you say the same about complic

If we could replace chips like we could replace cells in batteries, things would be better maybe. But I would love to have a pure SSD NAS.

If you don't know k8s, sure. But if you have someone who does, EKS makes more sense.

As a Devops engineer I'm staying away from Kubernetes at home. It would require too much constant maintenance. I use docker only. I get to play with kubernetes enough at work.

Because then your endpoint is the standardized kubernetes rather than ECS. Also I don't think you can use Kubernetes logic with ECS Finally I think with ECS you have quite the vendor lock in.

It is valuable activity if you like doing it. I think just forcing yourself to do it for the sake of it is a mistake.

That is true. But if you compare it to, for example, managed web hosting, then it is a very different managed experience.

Being independent of AWS stuff. Kubernetes community is much larger than ECS/Fargate, so many things already have been solved by others. Also something like karpenter.sh is much nicer than ec2 autoscaling group.

A managed cluster is not as much managed as you would think. Still have to configure and install a lot of things yourself.

I would not call cable management painless. Especially at the desk where every little thing needs a wire. But that is just me.

My biggest surprise was how vanilla even hosted Kubernetes clusters are. For EKS I had to configure and install quite a lot to make it work as expected. At that point you are installing and self managing so much on your own that I wonder if

I don't think that is true. Kubernetes brings a lot of advantages to people who have to manage infrastructure (like me). It gives me a single interface that I can apply across multiple teams. They all only need to provide me with a doc

We are using karpenter.sh for autoscaling. Works just fine.
