Hey davidw, why don't you misrepresent what I said some more? I didn't say that the victims of racism were backwards. Anyone who is a victim of an actual crime should be treated with dignity and respect. People who get bent out of shape abo

davidw, If you think your last comment was in the spirit of respectful debate then you should go back and re-read it a few times. If you don't want to respect my opinion, that is not my problem. Racism is irrelevant. Racists are irrelevant.

Where I chose to clearly express my opinion, you chose to be extremely rude and dismissive. Who's really trolling?

I think racism is about as far from a relevant issue as you can get. Honestly, the people who get bent out of shape about it are just as backwards as the few people who are still actually racist. Edit: Since davidw is claiming that I think

Cool stuff. I assume you wrote this for your own personal gratification and not to compete with Nginx or something. What was the coolest thing you learned in putting this together?

Why ask for advice and then pick apart just about everything people are telling you? Seems like you've already made up your mind to me.

I'm sure you're not the only one who hasn't heard of it until now, but I've been using it for awhile and it's actually pretty useful. I like their topics feature. I can see who the most influential people are in the "startup" topic and imme

Sounds like you shouldn't be using Rails if this is your philosophy. I'm of the school of thought that if you're going to use a framework when building an app, then you should lean on it for just about any task that it will let you. Especia

Yeah, a company that's just starting to build brand awareness should really just up and change their name. Brilliant.

I know lots of people who could get a ton of use out of this. VC's, local startup facilitators, generally people who are probably getting a ton of emails from people who they don't know. I think this could be really useful for these people.

There will be lots more criticism here. Either way, thanks for sharing the story in such an honest and complete way. Writing like this is rare in the startup world, and it's extremely positive to have around.

I wouldn't say it's crazy big. Bigger than 99% of one page sites? Sure. I've got a 50mbps connection and even with a far slower one, this would only take a few seconds to load.

Amazon isn't in the habit of moving my files around, or even changing their API's. It's also far from rent-free. I enjoy having "my mom" clean my room. It means I don't have to run my own IT infrastructure in a company of 4 with barely any

I love that it's under a section called "spells". And actually it looks like it could be done with a variation of this. This is why I love Ruby. It goes out of its way to let programmers be creative :)

Pretty much nobody supports IE6 anymore. I know how to IE6, like most devs a little older than the author. I just choose not to. Because I can.

I've worked with the KM folks. Great people, genuinely kind, and they want to make a great product. I think it's disgusting to single out a startup like this, especially right as they are gaining traction with some big-name clients. There i
