One big gotcha that folks need to appreciate is that you don't get the full power of bazel just by getting baseline bazel to work and build things. You need to really be sensitive to your physical dependencies and not lump similar code

I particularly enjoyed the history aspect of it, these things give you broad contours of where pools of experience exist and what specific organizations were responsible for driving and advancing things.

I’ve been daydreaming about the possibility of OS support for semi-arbitrary plugins for apps and how those apps could expose certain things for the plug-in to utilize. It’s a very half-baked idea of mine but I’ve wondered if it’s possible

I’m not a big fan of this less features ethos. This feature anemic set of software that gets put out more often than not drives me bonkers. It’s as if they don’t want power users.

I don't get it, how is it that the simple question of "compared to what?" is just completely omitted and seemingly never even considered by so many authors? Do people just operate with plain dead end facts without context or

there is something that harkens to our mortality when we witness something come to an end. I remember having some reactions to businesses failing and closing shop that I encountered as a youth. They always seemed and appeared so permanent.

There is something that changes when you get into how much things can go wrong. I've been explaining to my kids that we're taking care of living things. And living things have their own clocks and times that draw us out of ourselv

I second this. When our boss on my team went on maternity leave one of the teammates stepped up to take on her role and get that slice of managerial experience. It worked pretty well for everyone involved and kept the ball rolling.
