Hmm. I'm running decent LLMs locally (deepseek-coder:33b-instruct-q8_0, mistral:7b-instruct-v0.2-q8_0, mixtral:8x7b-instruct-v0.1-q4_0) on my MacBook Pro and they respond pretty quickly. At least for interactive use they are fine and c

Perhaps, instead of spreading FUD, it would be worthwhile to mention these "certain temperatures", so that people can make an educated decision of whether it applies to them at all. I'm looking at the datasheet for my Fujitsu

Descent and Descent 2 were among the best games I've ever played. They were also very good for game parties — I daresay they were more enjoyable than FPS like Doom, Quake and similar. The fully-3D environment and the complex rocket mec

A word of warning, though: the series is dark and extremely depressing. I would not recommend it for people struggling with depression.

It's bad news and not because of the "fear of subscription" (if you think you aren't paying for a subscription now, you are deluding yourself). The problem is that most acquisitions go wrong and that larger companies gen

Read the small print. Your messages are encrypted, but you are syncing your entire contacts list (phone book) to FB/Meta.

What I find amusing is that all of those WhatsApp users don't know or don't care that they are uploading their entire list of contacts (with phone numbers) to Meta/Facebook and syncing it every day. That "end-to-end encr

That really depends on where you live, but for me in the EU the fuel/energy cost per km is about 2.5-3x lower with a home-charged EV than with a gas vehicle.
