Maybe something different happens in the "top" top CS programs , but I sure as hell did a lot of programming during my CS curriculum. Some was for classes meant to explicitly make you better programmers (software engineering), and some was

Shades of gray, my friend. Saying that suburbs are too high density to have a slower pace of life than a city is a massive generalization (and one I don't even understand as a generalization). I live in Manhattan and grew up in a suburb abo

Ugh the word "lover" really creeps me out for some reason. It might be because of the Welshly Arms Hotel SNL sketch. Either way, I can't imagine referring to anyone as "my mom's lover." shiver

Well you kind of implied new company when you mentioned passing the interview (yes, I know at the larger tech firms you can interview for other teams internally). Either way, I don't think changing jobs internally, starting a new project, e

You act as if "Get a job doing X" is a trivial step in the learning process. What if someone doesn't want to get a new job in order to practice X?

From my small amount of experience, I saw even less percentage of females in computer science. By the time I got to the upper level courses in Comp Sci at UMD, I usually had 1 female classmate. Sometimes 2, sometimes none. In my 3 years of

A more apt comparison would be if you didn't know about the iPhone now . This conversation between Zuckerberg and Andreessen didn't happen right when Netscape came out.

It isn't that nobody cares. It's that people see (however irrationally) car accidents as an unpreventable occurrence, while they see terrorism as something that can be stopped if we go and kill the bad guys that are doing it.

Coincidentally, I just finished a similar table using backbone. It isn't nearly as feature-rich, but it has sortable, movable, resizable columns, and a mechanism for adding filter fields. It was built for a specific purpose in an existing p
