Unions can negotiate more effectively by banding together. For an example, see this article: https://mattbruenig.com/2021/09/20/when-mcdonalds-came-to-de...

An informed and empowered populace is a check against imperialism/colonization. Look at the opposition to the Vietnam war, for example. With the existence of the global internet, it has become much easier for citizens to track what the

I think I agree with Chomsky that humans can create a much less hierarchical society. Most of what he advocates for (reducing American imperialism) is a pragmatic step towards giving people in the countries of the world more direct control

Sorry, I forgot to mention that in my comment. In any case, I think there are many countries where the lower number of women in parliament is largely/partially due to systemic/social factors, as opposed to biological factors. EDIT

If, in a vacuum, men and women are equally viable as members of parliament, then a 50/50 split in parliament should be about the average in a society without bias on the part of the system or the people.

One alternative to capitalism from where we are now is a market economy of worker cooperatives. The market can still allocate resources, but the profit/surplus is distributed more equally (between the workers.) By encouraging the creat

There exist more modern shells like Fish Shell and Oil Shell. I haven't used them, but they're probably nicer to use than POSIX shell. I'm sure they have pipes and stuff too.

You would probably need a wrapper script to do this. The script could periodically clear the screen and call "barchart" with the new input data, re-rendering the chart from scratch. "barchart" is a very simple shell scri

Similar to the second quote, English speakers nowadays (at least where I live) say things like "I have the flu." In this phrase, I believe "the flu" refers to the ailment in general as opposed to what affects the speaker
