Foxit PDF Reader does this beautifully. It's far better on iOS but still works better than the alternatives on Android. Trust me, it is a DREAM to read PDFs on mobile with Foxit. I avoided PDFs for years because iBooks and Kindle suck

They're delightful to read on mobile too with a reader that maintains zoom and allows continuous scrolling. I don't mind flipping the page but it's far more friction than flipping the page of an actual book since you do it ab

This is it. Its easy enough to say that only calorific intake is a factor. It is but there are many indirect factors that influence the success of a regimen. I'm not gonna eat my daily allowance in spoonfuls of sugar am I?

In fact, in the north at least, when we say "town" as though its a proper noun, we mean the city centre. To me, that's Manchester despite living in Salford. For example, "I'm off to town this weekend" means I&#

Looks a lot like this quiz scores based on openness to experience thinking in terms of OCEAN. Those who have a greater openness to experience tend to be more liberal. You could compare popularity of policies amongst types of voters and look

As a side note, I was pretty surprised that the name isn't as in "I have a great mind" but rather "I have a table oriented programming mind". At first, I had a knee jerk "wow arrogant" reaction and then fe

High level of benzodiazepines is enough to kill off your inhibitions and short term memory. Mixed with alcohol, if you feel that way, there is nothing stopping you from taking your life. At 16, during an episode of depression and psychosis,

On that same strand, the following games have proven to be quite educational to me: Caesar III - first city builder I played. Fell in love with the Romans - was well prepared when the basics of Ancient Rome was taught in school. Pharoah - s

In Salford, we had a regeneration project that replaced all the rundown terraced housing, from Salford's industrial era, with high rises. Due to the collapse of industry round here, deprivation and crime shot through the roof (to the p

Yes. In fact, the point with symbols and code as data is that you can implement different paradigms in the language itself. A program implementing prolog, for instance, is an example program in books.

In a way, it's pretty intuitive. Beginners are looking down the rabbit hole and think "well I've got this far so it can't go that much deeper can it"? They've got a CRUD app up and running and doing stuff - I r

This is an important point. Its easier to resist a cookie that's out of sight in a cupboard than it is to resist a cookie that's sitting right in front of you. Impulsivity comes from an emotional response within the deeper parts o

Right, because you know my life well enough to make that kind of judgement. It's a nice, clever cop out but ultimately a cop out. Bicyclist gets hit by a car. Loses his legs. Did he make poor life choices? I wouldn't say so. Say t

Personally, I think you do deserve a second referendum. The remain/leave map shows a clear border. Northumberland votes out. North of that, its all remain. The biggest thing to me is that many in the leave camp used very similar argume

Similar to the baseline advice to learn programming: write a lot. Read good writing, read bad writing and learn to tell the difference. Leaving a piece of writing for 24 hours and coming back to it with a fresh pair of eyes to edit helps. S

It'd be interesting to know what the optimal order of progression would be. It'd be simple to grab a curriculum and start from point A (as in, the method is simple - not the content), taking that as the order. More thoughts and di
