I used fish for at least a year, maybe more. I eventually switched away to zsh. Whichever theme I used, rendering the status of git repos took ages, and the breaks from Bash syntax were just a bit too much. I loved the overall friendliness

That's pretty astonishing. Are you referring to this kind of workflow: https://goldmann.pl/blog/2014/07/30/running-docker-container... I clearly have tons left to learn as a Sysadmin

If anyone else is looking for a legible and noob-friendly explanation of this controversy, I found a decent reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/2jormj/el...

It's enormously popular in web development, especially front-end development. It's probably the most popular with modern web developers who don't use Vim/Emacs. It certainly appears to have long overtaken Textmate, which

I'm quite impressed by this. I can easily imagine some pretty sophisticated productions with such a small amount of code. For instance, your Better Looping example is basically a step sequencer.

Great technology. I'm maybe a bit stuck in my RAW file processing ways to find a use for this myself, but I am impressed with it's speed. A couple of things I'd like: - Proper support for high-res images - it might be in ther

Great article. Thanks for being so rigorous with the step-by-step process and for annotating your thoughts on each step, it's very instructive.

I found a tutorial making it look pretty easy to do with Mechanize: http://readysteadycode.com/howto-scrape-websites-with-ruby-a... Note, not tried this myself!

Nice! Could've used that this weekend when I got caught in callback hell trying to build a simple NodeJS scraper. Ended up doing it in PHP just because I know it well. I'll give it another go with this library next week!

Here's a very simple stylesheet for HN tweaks that I forked from another one: http://stylebot.me/styles/2800 I've been using it for just over a year, and find it extremely pleasurable to use.

It's actually pretty cool to play with. I don't know how much fun writing a whole complex game would be, but I was very impressed with it's syntax.

Great fun. Quick pointer though - the convention in IF games is to map X (for eXamine) to look at. Kept tripping me up.
