Unless I misread you, this is not what is happening here. That tiny camera/sensor combo is unable to do that narrow of a depth of field. There's a blur, but nowhere near that extent. The “bokeh” here is completely software generat

It was discussed at length at the time on different podcasts such as ATP and The Talk Show, and I recall it was the case mostly in Asia. It had to do with the perception of the physical button's flimsiness and unreliability. And was co

Oh, yes I understand. Totally with you. And proxy adblockers are not really user-friendly yet, so as long as advertisers go native they still have a rosy future indeed.

I wonder what AdBlocker you are using. I use both of these platforms daily, and see absolutely no ad. Apart from product placements directly in the video by the content creator, but not as banners/pre-rolls or any other form.

This blog post made me go back and play the game with my newly-arrived 1080 Ti. In Full Ultra (every settings cranked up to 11) on my 3440x1440 monitor, this games runs smoothly at 70 FPS. And looks extremely realistic. I can't recomme

FWIW I've switched back to Firefox from Opera/Chrome because of FF 57. The speed improvements made in 55 and 56 are simply mind-blowing, and I'm sure this will continue improving in the following versions as well. I'm

It's very specific and I realize I'm being privileged. I don't think my argument holds much ground. My thing is: I visit a particular website to get the latest news on a topic but it's done with some kind of poorly coded

Offline makes sense, you are right. I'm being privileged. But for notifications, even the only-once* prompt is an annoyance we never had to deal with before. It's like the European Cookies Law: great in essence, but when every web

I'd say that's another issue. Duplicate frameworks in Facebook.app, monolithic tracking frameworks, etc. So much useless stuff prying on the user's privacy. I remember Twitter.app had code to get the currently installed apps,

Exactly. I don't want websites to send notifications. And I dislike websites with Offline support: I always have to refresh twice to make sure the content I'm seeing came from a fresh source and not from cache.

This is not the same thing, though. I hope you realize. This is not bringing Live Photos to Android nor allowing cross-platform playback. It's just giving Android users a handy app to loop videos.

Opinions. I personally really, really enjoyed that soundtrack. I have chills when I hear the main theme and I'm instantly reminded of the whole plot, and tear up a little. Exquisite soundtrack to my ears. But I agree that Nolan's

Brosnan is the Bond of my generation. I loved Golden Eye, but I think the later films were just bad, not because of the actor(s) but because of the script and plot.

Without spoiling anything (I hope) for those that haven't yet seen Alien Covenant, there are lot of similitudes between that script and the new movies, it's almost uncanny.

Noticed the heavy CPU usage as well. The laptop still performed admirably but estimated remaining battery time fell below 2H on a full charge so I smelled something amiss. Turned out the videos on this page continue playing even when the ta

Well, Mélenchon is far-left. Left is Parti Socialiste. Right is Les Républicains. Far-right is Front National. These are the French definitions of Left and Right, and probably have nothing to do with other countries'. Based on these de

It's still there though, isn't it? Granted you don't see it in the Start Menu, but it remained installed on your system. God knows if it's not having its own process at launch, doing similarly nasty stuff?

macOS would suck if it ran on every kind of hardware. It's because it's all so tightly controlled that it works so great. Windows is not inherently bad. But the premise of it working everywhere means some trade-offs are made. Same
