Just to add that, at least here in France, it is not at all uncommon to stand up and go pay at the terminal on the way out, instead of waiting at the table. They usually have a card reader anyway, but it's a matter of convenience for t

What we get here in the rest of the world, is something that allows for control of both temperature & water flow. Usually (but I can't really speak generally) with a freely-moving showerhead connected by a metal-jacketed rubber hos

Never realized that until you mentioned it. And I've owned some of their products for a long time. I guess it's because I figured it was pronounced "satéchi" which is more likely sound for an Asian company ("saké&qu

Hey, Sorry for the kerfuffle, I mean no harm to you, your reputation & your app. I wish I had screenshotted that. I remember almost reaching out to you on Twitter about it, but thought "hey it's the first one I'll let it

I do not wish that upon any developer, especially small indie shops. So I'd probably do as you suggest. However, I would also very much like Apple to lead by example and stop spamming its paying customers (anyone that bought an iOS or

True! I'm glad too they decided not to implement web notifications, and keep to their word about it.

Just a heads up: Apple in their guidelines tell developers not to do that, and yet they do send some notifications advertising their products and/or services sometimes (recently for Apple TV+). They also do not police developers'

I love it and use it multiple (25+) times per day. My only wish is that it kept the interface from whichever player the videos comes from (eg. YouTube's, Netflix's, etc., especially for subtitles & platform-specific controls l

One can make the argument that Google's "do no evil" was pure altruism. And indeed, it did go poof! the instant it conflicted with their bottom line. Astute comment, parent.

I don't know what CGP Grey looks like. I have looked a bit, didn't find anything, decided it's best left to mystery if the guy likes it this way. I find it cool and refreshing in this day & age.

I am willing to pay, but I very strongly despise ads. I'm not sure I have value for advertisers, as I never click on ads. In fact I'm pretty sure advertisers are wasting money on me, and Facebook is quite happy to continue chargin

Yes, but Gmail doesn't really have to compete in Google Search, does it? So, in their eyes, it's OK for Gmail to score low because it has its own link in basically every navigation toolbar/header Google owns. This won't

I switched to DDG what seems like years ago (at least two, maybe more). I cannot fathom how horrible the UI&UX of Google search results are now. Stuff and things everywhere, ads hidden here and there, images, lists inside search results

(Firefox user here) I find that ctrl+shift+n makes more sense: ctrl+n for a new window, add shift for a modified (incognito) new window. Although whichever shortcut is a very quick habit change to make anyway

I've been using DDG for literal years now, and whenever (rarely) I use Google for a search, I'm completely befuddled by Google Search's user experience. There's stuff everywhere: vertical lists, horizontal lists, thumbna

I am of the opinion that you should not mess with my scrollbars. I like them to be visible and wide, because (a) I like to know a page's length and my current progress, and (b) I'm a bit blind and I don't want to hunt for an

I think what gp is trying to say, is that the EU does not have to make it painful for UK: it already is, de facto. Sure, it's better if the process is painful, to make probable exiters think again, but in this case it's not EU
