These types of comments remind of when Cognition launched Devin and everyone was hounding on their website saying "Oh can't Devin build something better than this", etc. And well here we are 2 years later and Devin is great.

I use Instinct and I'm very happy with it so far. It has booked some restaurants for me, replied to some personal admin-related emails, and updates my progressive workout spreadsheet when i go to the gym. No real complaints so far.

Do you have any evidence to suggest that this true? And if so, why can't I just use any of the very good open source Chinese models (and eventually American once reflection, thinking machines, etc catch up).

Yeah exactly. I remember speaking to someone working at a YC company who was complaining about the quality of their codebase. I then asked him if the company was making a lot of money - he said yes, it was super successful.
