That's 6$. Oof to you when that's 31% of your wage in California. I guess that's why employees are living in their cars on the parking lot.

Have enjoyed this possibility with KDEconnect for a while. Surprising how cutting edge open source can be.

So many times I have been able to pull something out of my behind that got rid of the recursive element to vectorize stuff. Usually involves ranks and groups.

I know this is a tangent, but, and I'm putting words in your mouth, is it so important to earn a FAANG salary? And yes, I know, it helps with negotiating salaries but that's circular. Maybe that's just the state of the job ma

That would be your headset being in headset mode. I'm on Debian Testing, and I'm finally able to exit headset mode and use a high quality audio codec instead. I hope that's the direction Linux is heading.

Yes, I'm not a pragmatic person. But the lives going right through the text, that would bother me so much if I was to regularly use this.

I don't understand how AMD has messed up so badly that I feel like celebrating a project like this. Features of my laptop are just physically there but not usable, particularly in Linux. So frustrating.

Ubuntu is merely reusing apt to connect to its own repositories. You could manually install packages from Debian's repositories, but it's probably inadvisable.

The number of times I have accidentally broken the wifi/Internet GUI on my os during updates, this could actually come in handy.

As a regular R/bash/python user, I think the Posit philosophy is increasingly to break down barriers between the languages. It's no longer an either/or relationship, you can use both. And some packages or features that h

Did I get that right? A laptop that needs a 230W power brick and wasn't really intended to run on 65W, though it does? 800MHz, that was what we had in the 90s, I assume that's the era? Meanwhile, my laptop is idlying at ~9W playin

Probably OpenAI users flooding other services, unintentional DDOS. The OpenAI API meanwhile is still up :)

That's 0.5 percentage points. Would be nice to get that metric, too, alongside percentages sometimes. Here the initial likelihood is relatively high, when the likelihood is low, percentage increases can be very misleading. Particularly

The easiest way would be to curtail the supply of oil, which is the raw input of all plastics and there is more of it being extracted than ever before. As long as there is a glut of cheap oil on the market, companies will find a way to make

I just went through this transition in Debian testing, I suppose. I wasn't aware it was going to happen, and I didn't have a chance to install updates for two weeks prior, which I usually do every day. It wasn't gracefully. I

I would be curious how much less computationally expensive these models are. Full-blown LLMs are overkill for most of the things I do with them. Does running them affect battery life of mobile devices in a major way? This could actually end

Haven't looked at the details in a while since I have been using only Wayland for close to 5 years not. You might be right that there was a scaling factor issue I filed as "does not work (for me)." The task bar, was that swit

This discussion feels like it's going in circles. Some important points to add -- Wayland already has some features that will never come to X11: * Support for different screen resolution across screens. I would venture a guess that mos

To this day, I cannot tell what Kubernetes is designed to do. I hear about it constantly from this website, and based on the conversations you would think it was designed to do anything and everything, and all at the same time.

And then by default everything is downloaded to /root rather then into user space, clogging up the partition. Not ideal for a partition that you would not expect to hold 20+GB worth of programs.

The article got one thing wrong. Life expectancy of 45 doesn't mean that people drop dead at that age. High infant mortality is one main reason for low life expectancy. That's why you have many people of old age even in the middle

Actually, on Linux I saw some occasional benefits of using a dongle over Bluetooth. Wakeup from sleep would work with my keyboard that had a dongle for instance.

What's between the extension card and the framework laptop body? The dongle holder is 3d printed, so then RF Signal should escape relatively well compared to metal, no?
