Doesn't this just mean that the will rob you _and_ additionally charge you with some made-up crime and let you rot in jail until you sign the plea deal?

And this, kids, is a great example of concern trolling. It would be more credible if he wouldn't give it away so easily that his knowledge about Scala is limited to the stuff he read on the internet.

Lol. No, it doesn't ship them at all yet. Why are you acting so butt-hurt?

No, but if even technically illiterate managers lose their hope in a product that says something. Groovy devs have been unable to keep up with cleanups, improvements and requirements since years. There is just no point in using the language

Oh right! I guess that explains why C# wants to add all the features Scala shipped with since 5 years ago.

It works without issues. I never have seen a use-case where this would have been an issue. Sure, it "looks" unfortunate, but there is only so much you can do when running on a completely uncooperative runtime. If devs need a typed

Well, then I think JSON is a petty bad example, because pretty much no service provides some schema-like specification of their protocol in JSON. If there is one thing I learned using type providers it is that maintaining your own "des

I'm not sure that Scala code + types is more verbose than Clojure code + tests. (Which is what the OP argued.)

Where would this sugar stop? At Either? At Try? At Validation? The problem is that if you introduce the sugar only for Option, users will tend to use Option even in cases where other type constructors would be more appropriate.

Scala encourages people to not use nulls everywhere, so adding syntactic sugar for a special case, which is not even idiomatic Scala doesn't sound like a good idea. Option is not a "replacement" for null. Sometimes another ty

What did it bolt on? Where are the checks missing? The last major version and the next major version don't ship with any new feature at all, and removing some stuff, so it's a bit hard to see were you are coming from.

That's interesting, because weren't Kotlin and Ceylon created because people wanted to have "just a better Java", which Scala is not really interested in being? > they realized that almost all of the features are avai

Isn't it positive that the community is so large that it can sustain multiple compilers? Some time ago people complained that Scala had only one compiler ... so now they complain about the opposite?
