It's just really hard to see whether your solar install actually generates any power since it's free of moving parts. Solar installs are one of the few areas where data isn't just a gimmick but actually crucial to efficiently

Yeah it could, but users don’t want to manage that sort of thing. People want flashy apps. I’m perfectly happy to manage my own house and run everything through Home Assistant strictly locally. But I know for a fact that this is something t

Why would you not want to see how your solar system runs? You can’t easily verify that it’s actually generating energy as you expect it to if you don’t look at the data

Stores implemented limits per person/household, but you could easily work around those if you really wanted to. It wasn’t rationing on a federal or even just state level.

I work for a C++ company but the game we work on has a debug telnet server. It’s super useful to inspect state or even run automation scripts. Also has a bunch of useful debug commands like the ability to live reload shaders or change how v

That’s somewhat still the case, humans could do a much better job at efficient layouting. The problem is that humans don’t scale as well, laying out billions of transistors is hard for humans. But computers can do it if you forego some effi

This is not true. I frequently run heavy compile jobs on my Windows machine that peg all cores to 100%. If I don’t tell Visual Studio to run the compile tasks with background priority, they will starve the window server of resources a s mak

Isn’t it the exact opposite? If it just says zone 6, it’s the old system because no a or b suffix. If the number space got doubled zone 6 would still exist but mean something completely different now. You can’t tell if it’s the old or new s

The thing is, the original iPhone was bad. By today standards. But it came out at a time when it was leaps and bounds ahead of a good chunk of the competition. But you can’t release a product like that anymore, at least if you are Apple. Pe

How is that a worse experience? I don’t have to mess around the bill to add a tip, I just punch it into the machine and then tap my card or phone. It also makes it super easy to split a bill if you are in a group.

That’s insane. Here in Canada the waiter/waitress brings a portable pos terminal to the table and you pay through that. I’d be incredibly uncomfortable if they ran away with my credit card.
