I think Apple does a combination. Both (from the article) of hosting on AWS, Google, & Microsoft, but also on its own data centers. I suppose it also depends on what is being hosted. If you look at Netflix & Dropbox, they both took

Not necessarily combined - just that there is more experience in the Bay Area (with larger tech companies there, higher demand for devs, etc-) vs an area that isn't as starved for engineers. Obviously SV vs Atlanta is different than SV
