I find that it's a interesting viewpoint when trying to learn to code through self-taught courses/guides. It's difficult to get a feel for what you're supposed to be doing from reading a book/blogs/whatever. So

In that case, you're the direct customer. As a rider, I cannot tell Uber I want to pay $20 to get me to the airport, I can accept their prices or not use the service. Uber is setting the prices for their drivers.

Diseconomies of scale. The last mile of shipping is the most expensive. In the US, there are tons of last miles that are thousands of miles from very large cities. Switzerland is a tiny country relative to the US, so it's much cheaper

To everyone commenting about their tax rates, that information is irrelevant without income levels in each area. If Germany's tax rate starts at 40% from 40,000 EUR and California from $200,000; those are not equivalent.
