I guess that part of my comment could have benefited from reading the article, which I have done now. Oops.

That kind of code is sometimes easier to write than read… you build it up incrementally. On the other hand it’s easy to refactor this to make it readable. Is Haskell supposed to be an easy language for beginners? Is Verse? Not every languag

There is really no easier path to high engagement on a tweet than dumping on an Elon venture. Not to discredit his opinion as a truck driver but I’m pretty sure his mind was made up when he saw the brand.

Nice to see this trending up the page today. Neovim has a great active community and is a very fun application to use and work on.

I don’t really find loop complicated because the basic cases are straightforward. The advanced cases are discovered complexity when you deliberately wade into the depths to solve some weird problem.

Category theory? Learning something when you don’t absolutely have to in order to write code? Sure it might be fun and expand your mind but I’ll have none of it you understand! Bah humbug!

It’s not complicated for a small team, but it is for a large public company.

I worked in small and large game companies for over 20 years and this does not surprise me at all. A modern AAA title involves 100s of people, whereas a small independent can be less than a dozen. At scale a company can spend millions on ad

Bartosz's material is great but it has a practical programming focus, so Cheng's books which focus more on teach Category Theory as mathematics, make a good complement.

Yes, that book in particular. I have Emily Riehl's Category Theory in Context which was not immediately accessible to me at all. Joy of Abstraction aims to be an on-ramp to that.

The Curry-Howard correspondence suggests the analogy of computation with lambda calculus and logical proof systems. As a non-expert it seems that same analogy extends roughly to lambda calculus and a lisp system

Not a fan to be honest. I stick with vanilla so when it breaks I can read the manual. Although I know Doom works great and makes a lot of people happy, it doesn’t do anything you can’t do yourself by downloading packages and configuring the

May want to read this if you're interested in having your opinion changed by actual testimonials rather than just going with the tribal Spaceman bad line. https://www.reddit.com/r/SpaceXLounge/comments/k1

I was always a Kick Off 2 guy but I actually worked at a small dev in London that made the console ports of swos. The sensible software guys were incredibly talented and made some classics.

Some functions return plain values. Other functions return fancy values with the plain values inside. There are different types of fanciness. One simple kind is called option. An option may have a plain value inside it or it may be nothing

I see exactly the same thing in the Scala community. Your first instinct when you need a library is to find a pure Scala one, when many times there are far superior (in terms of maturity, stability and documentation) in the Java word. Somet

It’s not free it’s tax payer funded. If Americans hate the idea of paying for someone else’s healthcare they’re not going to like paying for their travel either
