FWIW, all the startups (series B-ish) I'm currently in talks with to join are full-remote, and I did not specifically set that as a criteria when choosing which roles to go for. I think smaller companies see office space as pure overhe

It would be easier probably to build a computer keyboard with no backspace or arrows. Or to just remap those keys to noop. I’m deep in the keyboard hobby, but it’s definitely on my todo list to build a write-only keyboard.

The OP frames sexual loneliness as a problem. I don't think it's a huge leap to say porn is part of the reason why people are having less real-life sex. Morally I have no issue with it, but ease/speed/price are important

There are a lot of factors at play here. Porn is ubiquitous which reduces the number of people looking for real-life hookups to satisfy their immediate urges. Awareness of the health risks (STDs, etc) of having many partners has probably ne

It’s okay to quit. The academic world has exploitation baked into it so it’s rare for people to be told that directly by those benefiting from your continued participation, but it’s okay to quit. If the thesis is making you this miserable y

I'm one of those folks with a small vinyl collection (~75 albums? Like 25/yr since I got into it) and no turntable. I got into this during the pandemic when the quality mid-range tables were sold out everywhere for months on end s

Lots of good advice in this thread. Only thing I would say is: don’t rule out the wife and kids if that is what you want. As a man, you are not on the same biological clock as women and many men have had families in life’s second act.
