It’s fine. There’s a map somewhere with all the spots where floods will happen. Good to reference before living somewhere new.

Yeah there’s tons of demand for offshore dollars. It’s a great product.

I believe that would be Marilyn Mosby, who herself is currently under indictment for a variety of federal crimes.

I don’t think that’s fair. Twitter was already operating at a loss and wasn’t going to win at performance advertising. A change in business strategy to something like payments seems reasonable for the long term.

Allegedly a week ago he broke into a family’s home, raped the woman, doused the couple in lighter fluid, and lit them on fire in front of their child. As the mayor said, > "There is no way in Hell he should have been on the streets.

The agencies can just offer refinancing. I agree meddling with the demand side is not great, but that’s what we’ve been doing for decades.

Looks like 2020 data? Social security COL increase was 8.7% this year. That’s pretty great compared to engineering salaries in the linked article.

I like how we stopped using Chinaman (like Frenchman and Englishman) to dehumanize them. The Geary Act of 1892 refers to “Chinese person or person of Chinese descent.” Now it’s in fashion again.

I’m not a public health expert but I don’t see how the status quo is preferable to letting anybody buy codeine at CVS. I’m seeing a lot of suffering in my neighborhood and a lot of money going towards it that could be better spent on other

Agreed the expectations are so far out of line I doubt the maintainers see a problem. If this guy wants to be a kernel contributor he can keep contributing to the kernel.

What’s the incentive here? It seems more likely it just wasn’t a concern to the maintainers. The guy can still call himself a Linux contributor if he wants. He submitted a couple if statements and didn’t get it signed off. Why split hairs o

10–20 good patches is probably the minimum baseline for a contributor. Merging a couple if statements into mainline verbatim is pretty iffy. This guy’s expectations are whack.

Poor people take cash to Bitcoin ATMs at gas stations and receive an asset that the bank can’t touch. It’s no wonder banks want to ban it. Why do you want to ban it?

My understanding is in some states the laws are written with a Catch-22: you need evidence of hacking to kick off an investigation. So I wouldn’t be that confident. If I were China I’d probably go with a hardware supply chain attack. Thes

It’s about proximity to the money printer unfortunately. Triffin dilemma. Like it or not, we’re not sending cash to nursing assistants in Idaho. If they wanted more money, they could’ve flipped houses in 2020–2022.

Ok, betting on HepC pipelines in 2008–2010 is hardly suspicious. Of course those programs were acquired. That’s the point of making the bet. I’d be suspicious if he’d invested in a single firm, but it sounds like he invested in every promis

As it is, I go on npmjs.com, look at the number of downloads, and hope for the best. Then ‘npm audit’ runs automatically, spitting out anywhere from a few dozen to several hundred warnings which I then ignore, still hoping for the best.
