How about they actually get around to releasing it on Windows Phone? I bought a Lumia 735 three weeks ago partly based on advertising on the MS NZ site that said Cortana was available. It's not, and now they've removed that page.

Unlike radio ads, which annoy the shit out of me, I can choose to skip podcast ads if I want to. Problem solved. If advertisers are happy to pay for the production of great podcasts, I'll download them.

I've got a Dell e7440 which is a really nice compromise between portability and power. It's built out of something metal and has survived me taking it everywhere so far. 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD and an i7 does the job.

Yep we've used a page of code from one of our systems and asked the person to talk through what they can see, what it does, what they would ask further questions about and so on. It almost instantly separates people who know a bit abou

Vista had some big changes in it, but shipped with lots of issues and had horrible driver support at the beginning. A while back I set up a laptop for aged relative with Vista plus all the service packs and fixes, and it was really fast and

I agree with you, but the Port Arthur massacre happened 8 weeks into Howard's term as PM of Australia. The Howard government was in power for 10 years after that, they won four straight elections.

Recently bought a Dell e7440 14" machine with i7, 16GB and then added a 1TB SSD. As developer machines go, it's pretty decent. Not as much battery life as I'd like (3-4 hours) but I haven't actually run it out yet. It&#x

I looked in the list of "iPad Air 2" apps the other day, expecting to see a list of apps that I'd consider upgrading for, but half the list is already installed on my old iPad 2. Very strange.

The porting question could possibly be explained by people just not bothering to port older stuff. I've got production code running in Python 2, and it's fine where it is. New stuff is in 3, and if I have to rework the old stuff a

The description of how to see the password in the linked HN comment doesn't work as described - if it's set to reprompt then you have to enter the master password before it ever gets to the detail form, so you can't just jump

Some good tips, published on a site that moves all the fucking content out of the way every time you click the mouse and makes it impossible to easily figure out who wrote something. Love the message, hate hate hate the Medium.

I'd strongly recommend Pocket Casts. One extremely nice feature is that if you have multiple devices (including iOS ones) it will remember where you're up to in each show across devices. The other killer is that they manage the ep

Ask all the tourists who come to Aus/NZ, go outside for a whole day and fry to a crisp. UV levels aren't necessarily related to sunlight.

Yeah we're long-time in-house Fogbugz users as well. We wanted to move to a local Kiln but it wasn't available any more so we rolled our own Git setup. I see why running things as a cloud service makes sense for Fog Creek but unfo

Still do. Point me at the Jabber server that gives us cross platform/device group and individual IM, easy integration, it's hosted elsewhere so if our work network is ever hosed we can still communicate and doesn't require an

Oh upvote the shit out of this! The only hassle we've had with Hangouts is how to start one by yourself and then get a link that's easily pastable into IM so everyone else can join, and this works like a charm.

A person buying a "premium" Lumia WP7 handset had a reasonable expectation that Microsoft would upgrade the OS when WP8 came out, but that didn't really work out either.
