I don't think many realize the seriousness of the situation. If the asteroid is just a rock, nothing happens, everything is just fine, we can continue to be the apex predator of Sol system. But if anybody is wrong and oumuamua was in f

Not quite so, Somebody, ultimately, will define the agenda. Maybe now is an algorithm, some person censoring news or posts for fcbk, but if you involve the government, any government, they will define the agenda. So, the most you can get fr

So, I went down the link, found a big photo, with really small fonts over it, and maybe potencially interesting content, But could not read it, because is mostly very light gray fonts over a clear white bright background. I would suggest to

So cockroaches have most probably not a big neural network, but they are able to do lots of stuff, including reproduction. I think this kind of machine intelligence is already at reach of currents models, or we are close to be able to make

So I see lots of comments about certain defaults or options some people would like to see in the blank, not customized KDE. But here's the thing, many defaults are just choices made by some dev, designer. In KDE many options have nothi

As far as we know, quasars could be fully artificial, and around them you could find some of our future friends. and those things would be pretty outdated - ancient - technology by time we spotted them.

we could have had already some encounters, maybe some current life-forms in Earth were actually alien-forms initially (somehow octopuses comes to mind). Some people on the net says that the current coronavirus situation could be an alien-sp

Indeed, if alien species are so environmental constrained, the competition to thrive could be almost non-existant, and Terran life could have the winning hand in that case. We should be careful about what we send to Mars. Something like can

This. we know quite a lot about this, most life-forms on Earth almost continously try to kill humans or at least to mine its biological resources for its use.

It would be the surprise of the millenia (till now at least), to find the novel coronavirus down there.

if an alien life-form is DNA based, maybe other similarities are shared with Earth based-lifeforms, even if it doesn't share an evolutionary past with it.

If the standard expectation is to find DNA based life-forms, it could be fairly rational to suppose that alien life shares other evolution tricks with the Earth based life-forms. So alien viruses could directly and initially interface with

I second this, I couldn't care less about snaps, flatpacks, debs. But snaps are - for me - A LOT SLOWER than everything else out there. *.deb, binaries run stuff in less than a second. Flatpacks, appimage, I have those running in a sec

Snaps are SLOW, chromium, and several other apps I tried, they start sloooowly. It is clearly a NO GO Canonical, you can't ship slower apps (that start in 3-5 seconds), that out of snap (or in Windows), start in less than a seconds. sn
