What's with the 'PHP sucks' fixation? Enough already. It doesn't help educate others, it makes you look like a know-it-all.

As I read this I thought about social welfare: well-meaning and often counter-productive. Another corollary would be dog training.

+1 for Premailer, I was going to dig this link up. Coding HTML email is a nightmare.

This makes for a heartwarming magazine article but I don't think it's good advice. If you don't set boundaries with your clients, they will set them for you. Which means calling the CEO at 2 AM on a Saturday. The sentiment of always respect

I'm not sure that's fair, Ian Laurie has been a solid blogger for years and is often critical of current trends. He ventures into technical topics from time to time too. He may not be your cup of tea but he's certainly not the cheap PR stun

Wow, tough crowd. This is a Dreamweaver killer for CMS themers, no need to bring Vim into the conversation.

Serious question: Why should I get started with Node.js? I've monkeyed around but don't get it. Maybe I just don't encounter a need for it when building websites for clients. Dunno.

Same here, Bootstrap has a ton of momentum and the mixins abstract away worrying too much about the vendor prefixing stuff anyhow. Horses for courses, the real story is that these pre-processors are getting serious traction.

This opens up some great possibilities. I noticed a jQuery plugin the other day that ingested JSON or could pull data from a supplied Google Doc. Seemed odd but makes sense when you see the direction Google Docs is headed.

Thinking that everyone should learn to code is an absurd idea. Most folks can barely use their computer, let alone care to program. A good percentage of web designers can't write markup, do you think my mom is going to fire up a shell? Perh

Responsive images are obviously needed but this syntax is noisy and confusing. Adding info after the file extension would make it too easy to overlook.

Dumb question, do you download a docset and add it? Point it to a URL? Derive it from docstrings? All of the above? As noted by another commenter, I too use Alfred for site-specific searches but this looks much more powerful.

Boundaries and stability are unlikely to be found in a startup. Not my area of expertise, but it sounds like a med/large company with a positive work culture and less-toxic politics might serve you well for a few years. Best of luck!

Great idea! I'd use this on client projects if: - I could pass a selector rather than adjusting my markup (maybe I can add 'fixie' via jQuery?) - There's an easy way to swap out the word list - I've had Bacon Ipsum, Hipster Ipsum, and Gangs

This must be mortifying for Cutts & Co., although being the PR pros they are they'll brush it off as an inadvertent mistake. This isn't the first time by the way, they penalized Google Japan in a similar situation a couple years back.
