I understand lock downs for security or user experience (e.g. disallow sites to auto-play video, etc). But restricting web apps to the point they're actually broken? No, that really sucks. Shame on Apple. And if we care about freedom a

Why build an app and not just live on the web? I answered that in the article, 2nd paragraph. The answer is two-fold: 1. That's where users are. We've trained a generation of users to find apps in app stores. 2. Some mobile platfo

Author here. Thanks all for bringing this to the HN front page. The jist of the article is getting a PWA into the app stores is harder than it needs to be, especially on iOS. Between Google, Apple, and Microsoft, I found Google's Play

Unfortunately, their PWA "add to homescreen" feature is so bad, it's unusable. I've had to tell my users not to add to the homescreen. For example: sending a PWA to background causes it to die. For my music player app, t

All these new features, but HTML5 audio is still utterly busted on iOS Safari[0]. So much so that my music player PWA is essentially unusable on iOS Safari. Bug filed here[1], simple repro here[2]. I appreciate that service worker is here.

This is really amazing. Very impressive. Would love to see this published on the web somewhere to try it out quickly without requiring folks to have the necessary components to build it.

Homosexuality in general is associated with higher risk of disease[0]. But from a values standpoint, we believe (as we have for 3500 years) that God's ideal for humanity is monogamous male/female marriage. Homosexuality can't

I don't deny that some things can go wrong, and I don't claim the system is perfect. But at the same time, in my 2 decades with Blue Cross Blue Shield, I paid through the nose (more than my mortgage!) and things still went wrong

It's not insurance. They disclose this on their own site[0]. When you go to the hospital, you disclose that. "I don't have health insurance, I am self-paid with a health sharing ministry." I think another major reason is

What a bunch of populist clap trap. The people owned the web, but tech giants stole it? Please. Tech giants gave people what they wanted. Google, Facebook, Amazon: they gave people what they wanted and are compensated richly for that.
