All this article demonstrates is that PHP is more verbose than than Ruby with a good DSL. This exact same logic could be used to argue against Java. There's plenty wrong with PHP. Verbosity is the least of its sins.

It's not always a bad sign, as both WoW & EVE Online have trials and are both running quite strong. In most cases, however, unless the game was launched with free trials/F2P in their business model, it's a sign that they're struggling
