I believe a lot of departments have moved to giving up those chases for just that reason. I'm sure there are situations where they will/will not pursue though I'm not sure what the criteria are.

Mmmm, I wonder how "oops, it was caught in the spam filter" would work out? At least with mail delivery you can have confirmation of receipt. With email what's the guarantee that the person in charge would look at it?

Well that wasn't really what great-grand parent was saying. They were asking why not build your own. Sure AT&T knows what they are doing. However they have a very clear track record of over charging and under delivering.

That is simple. The city doesn't know what it's doing. They know Google does. They don't have to give any money to do it, just not charge Google to put their stuff in. Essentially they have to do nothing, get an ass-load of credit for d

Because it makes sense. These sorts of things normal are allowed to go through so that horrible unintended consequences can be wrought on the unsuspecting.

This worked pretty well for me in my final year of school when the only time the lab was open for our project was midnight to 8am. Weird having an end of the day beer at 10:30 in the morning though :)

No one was arguing that point. The FDA does good things. The FDA does bad things. The question is whether the FDA is more helpful than harmful. I for one am happy that the FDA inspects my food and medicine and holds them to a standard of

10%-15% cut if you use your own payment processing? You lose the one click convenience customers have to add all this extra data etc.
