"boilerplate SQL" is an oxymoron... Literally every pro-ORM dev that I've ever worked with was so incredibly weak with basic SQL fundamentals that I must conclude that they preferred ORMs simply due to a reluctance to learn S

Does the ORM still write horrendous cursor based loops where simple joins would suffice?

This is true because a large portion of working people live in poverty in the U.S. This reflects poorly on our human-jackal employers that extract wealth from the labor of the poor (Walmart, Amazon... restaurant chains, etc.).

In my experience, c level folks just want someone who can produce a dashboard or executive report with a bunch of green check marks that basically say “yay! We’re secure”. They don’t care about the why, how, if the check marks are actually

You’re completely ignoring the fact that protest and speech are exactly how things change in a free democratic society. Try that in China and you’re likely to find yourself in a “re-education” (concentration) camp. It’s not apples to apples

Or, maybe American’s have grown tired of educating state sponsored (China) students whose sponsors quite literally seek to exfiltrate knowledge from U.S. academia and industry. Do you think I as an American would be welcome to attend a Chin

Maybe Microsoft is less averse to complexity - which would still make uptime degradation land squarely on Microsoft’s shoulders. Microsoft seems to be an organization that actually introduces too much complexity to their products imo.

Agreed, It doesn’t seem appropriate for info-sec people to be making decisions about what which risks to mitigate, ignore, etc. They should provide input into that process though. We struggled to even get the CIO and CEO to acknowledge and

The closure obsession in Swift is really off putting. The amount of indirection in the language is frustrating and seems to be there due to an FP zealot somewhere in the language design team at Apple.

We need competition among browser vendors to prevent/discourage these abuses. Chrome is becoming IE of the early 2000s. I switched to FireFox ~2 years ago and couldn’t be happier.
